SWEATWORKING, THE LATEST CRAZE TO SWEEP AMERICA

SWEATWORKING, THE LATEST CRAZE TO SWEEP AMERICA

Pushed for time? A new craze dubbed ‘sweatworking’ is taking the US by storm, with the UK witnessing a similar trend. Now is the time to ‘burn while you earn’.

WHAT IS SWEATWORKING?

It doesn’t take long to figure out that sweatworking means networking, plus sweat.

This means that while you are working out at the gym, running, or doing a spin class, you are also making contacts, new friends, and getting your name out there in the business world.

Spin classes are particularly popular as clients can work at their own pace.

Sweatworking can be one-on-one, casual group meet ups or structured fitness studio-based sessions. How about a structured breakfast networking meeting at a central London fitness club. Or swap the boozy lunch for a gym session.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

  • Physical health: Simple really. You will burn more calories and improve your fitness.
  • Work/life balance: Sweatworking is the perfect opportunity to combine both your physical and career health simultaneously.
  • Business health: With the risks of a sedentary lifestyle becoming more recognized, many businesses are keen to incorporate exercise into the days of their desk-bound employees. Some companies are even using sweatworking as a recruiting tool. By watching a potential employee in action they can see how they can rise up to challenges!
  • Social: It’s much more fun to work out with other people, making new friends and smiling while you exercise. Working out with someone else is also a great equalizer. There is no corporate hierarchy, making it easier to build relationships with people.
  • Ideal for introverts: Doing a shared experience can be less intimidating than a face-to-face business meeting. The endorphins from exercise also boost your energy and confidence.
  • Brain power: Many people agree that getting active also gets the creative juices flowing.

We have also seen how you can boost your brain power with exercise. The more we exercise, the better we perform at work.

WHO SHOULD DO SWEATWORKING?

Pretty much anyone who wants to boost their career or take it in a new direction should consider it. It’s also a great strategy for job seekers who have arrived in a new city and want to build contacts.

WHAT EXERCISES COULD BE DONE?

Running, walking, weights, yoga, barre, group biking and spin classes are all good examples. But beware against taking on activities that are too cognitively demanding if you have to make important business decisions.

Use one of our pay-as-you-go day passes, bundles or monthly memberships to meet up with your business associates or clients.  Visit different venues, use different classes and book directly on our website. Then watch your career and your fitness levels soar together.
