If you are one of the many people that think there could be a link between their alcohol intake and their weight then you are right! But the impact might not be as you would have expected!
According to a recent report, a research team at the Navarro University in Spain concluded that “light-to-moderate alcohol intake especially of wine, may be more likely to protect against, rather than promote, weight gain.” But before you crack open another bottle it is worth reading the small print on this interesting claim!
The International Scientific Forum on Alcohol Research reviewed the findings of Navarro University and concurred with most of them but did point out that positive effects are largely linked to wine drinkers...so put that can of lager back down and read on.
Apparently the impact of alcohol on weight is linked to type of alcohol you drink, the volume (amazing insight...) and your propensity to put on weight naturally. Did we really need a University research team to tell us this? Surely the more pressing question is to find out who funds research like this in times of global economic recession!?
Anyway, it seems that alcohol, just like everything else, is probably best consumed in moderation! I am pretty sure that a couple of bottles of wine a night and zero exercise will not help you lose weight...but perhaps a cheeky glass in the evening after a great work out in one of our many gyms in London should be allowed!
We at payasUgym.com await the phone call from Navarro University to lead their next amazing research project...
