Peanut butter is one of the most beloved of all sandwich spreads. Its versatility, taste and of course its concentrated doses of protein make it the perfect accompaniment to all kinds of healthy snacks, but not all peanut butter jars are filled with the good stuff.

Sugar, salt, oil, saturated fats and preservatives tend to cancel out some of peanut butter’s health benefits, but never fear, it’s a simple DIY project to start mixing up your own at home. And best of all the homemade kind gives you plenty of room to experiment with your favourite nuts and flavours.

Here are the basics: place nuts in food processor, blend until smooth.
