Summer bodies are built in winter

It’s unlikely, after hiding under baggy jumpers for an entire winter, that come the summer your body will magically be ready for a bikini. The truth of the matter is that if you want to be beach-ready this summer, you’ll need to start prepping now.

Many of us leave it too late before we realise we’ll have to ditch the overcoat for a more revealing wardrobe, and by then we’ve missed our slot to have a great body ready for summer. So here’s what you need to do. Start getting ready now.

It may seem a little premature, but by putting the work in now, you’ll be ready to strut your stuff in the sun with a buff body and a smug grin.

Winter Workouts

Hitting the gym now will not only see you through the winter blues by lifting your mood and make you feel invigorated, but will also put you one step ahead of the game for when the rain stops and the sun comes out.

Project Hydration

Start by upping your water intake to keep you hydrated, this will also flush all those winter toxins out and help you towards eating more healthily – another important step to take now. Start cutting out all that winter stodge like steamed puddings and heavy dinners. Switch to fresh meals high in fibre and protein, low in fat and carbohydrate.

By taking these simple steps you’ll already feel more inspired to grab your trainers. If the weather’s rubbish, the gym is the ideal place to work out, but it’s great to get outside to really clear the head as well. It will also make you appreciate exercising in the summer more as well when it’s lovely and warm!

With the winter weight dropping off and your new toned body hiding under your winter tracksuit you’ll soon be ready to strip down to shorts and T-shirt and reveal the work you’ve been doing this winter while on the beach!

I always struggle to get out as much as usual in the winter but I try and stick to a routine and after a couple of weeks the extra energy from all the work outs means I'm more than happy to keep going. Looking forward to summer now!

I am a fair-weather exerciser so thank god for the gym in the winter. My body stays in shape pretty much all year round so thankfully I don't need to get 'bikini ready' cos am already ready!

while I won't be wearing a bikini, I entirely agree that it is time to take action. Before I end up with a 'winter coat' that I can't unzip!

it's quite hard to cut out the stooge and think about bikinis when it's still cold. But a few more weeks of this sunshine and then you're talking!
