What is so great about a kettle bell workout

What is a kettle bell?

You know those heavy balls with handles attached, often hidden away in the corner of the gym? Well they are kettle bells.

They originated in Russia so you know they are going to pack some power. Most gyms will have a set and kettle bells are worth a go if you want to spice up your workout.

Ask your gym instructor to show how to use these bad boys.

How do you use a kettle bell?

Kettle bells can be used in many different ways and add multiple benefits to your workout.

They come in many different sizes and weights so whatever your level there will be one to fit your workout.

Swinging, carrying, holding, lifting are all things that can be done with kettle bells. They are great to use as part of circuits and high intensity interval training for the ultimate cardio and fat burning workouts.

Kettle bell exercises can also be done on their own to help increase your power and strength whilst helping you work towards a flat stomach and strong core.

Not only are you getting a great workout, it really doesn’t take long to work up a sweat using kettle bells. You can be in and out of the gym in no time, and still feel the post workout burn you have learnt to love.

What are the benefits?

Not only is the kettle bell great for fitness and weight-loss but it is great for coordination, especially with all the quick flowing movements.

Kettle bells are essentially free weights so they work all the stabilising muscles, especially around the shoulder joint, on top of the larger muscles. Most kettle bell exercises involve holding a handle, which will naturally help increase your grip strength.

If you haven’t used kettle bells before why not give them a go. You might love it. You might not. Fitness is all about enjoying yourself and trying new things. What have you got to lose? Stay healthy, eat well and reap the benefits of feeling good.

Now go show those kettle bells what you are made of.

I agree with Craig, you can do a workout a lot quicker using kettlebells. it's like high intensity training so they're great if you need to cut your gym session short sometimes. .

Can you use kettlebells when you're pregnant? I would like to use them but worry it's too much strain.

Kettlebells are weird looking things but they do the trick. I got mine cheapie from Argos and they do the job just as well as more expensive brands.

You can do a whole workout just with 10 minutes of kettlebells. it feels like it uses all the muscles in my body so there's no need to do much else. I really recommend them.

My workouts wouldn't be complete without my kettlebell - I have one at home for when I can't get to the gym and just use YouTube videos - there are also great classes at my local gym so I can practice more advanced/more sustained moves. I think they're a great beginner's weight as I used a kettlebell to workout before I picked up a dumbbell or barbell.

kettlebells are amazing and I love them! I never used to have a clue how to use them but now do lots of lifts and swings and I don't have to do that many to really feel the difference.
