The building which is home to Club Kensington opened in 1962 and was originally a synagogue (a Jewish house of prayer) & had the Magen David (Star of David) in marble on the facia along with Lions (another symbol of Judaism) for many years, in fact right up until 1999 when facia building repairs meant the engraved & carved polished marble had to be removed & replaced with lighter concrete.
After a rich and interesting 40 years of history which has seen many fitness customers come through the doors the site's name was changed to 'Club Kensington' in preparation for the redesign, complete refurbishment & total upgrade that has now taken place. They thought that totally new beginnings and a totally new concept required a totally new name!
The gym contains a wide variety of resistance and CV machinery alongside a dedicated free weight area with a generous amount of equipment. The site also offers a spinning studio and seated refreshment area for that well deserved drink/snack after your workout. Seconds away from the bustling streets of Kensington and just a short walk from High Street Kensington Station (Circle and District lines) you should definitely pay this place a visit.
