Housed in a light and airy converted warehouse, John Orwell Sports centre is located in the heart of Wapping, not far from the Tower of London. Providing a friendly venue for locals and visitors alike, the John Orwell centre is a popular local gym in this interesting and historic part of London. The centre is open until 10pm during the week, so there is plenty of time to get rid of those office cobwebs.
The gym has over 50 different exercise stations, and is arranged to make the most of the skyline views of London. With its high ceilings and air conditioning, the gym is a pleasant oasis from the bustle of the city. There is a good choice of free weights, plus plenty of treadmills and steppers for your cardio workout. Customers of this gym especially like the friendly staff and uncrowded atmosphere.
The centre also offers a wide range of other activities. The fitness studio houses twelve group exercise classes each week, with options such as Pilates, yoga and box fit. Some classes are designated ‘women only’ as part of the local ‘For the girls’ programme, and there is a weekly session for the over 55s. There is a sports hall and two outside courts, one of astroturf and one of tarmac. Trampolining classes are also now being held for under 16s. (Extra charges apply for all of these activities)
