Manchester Aquatics Centre, run by Better, was built for 2002 Commonwealth Games and still plays host to international events. The state of the art facilities, including swimming pool, diving pool and fitness suite are available to the public

The fully air-conditioned fitness suite is home to the latest Technogym cardio and resistance machines. There is a dedicated area for free weights and matted areas for stretching pre and post workout. If you need some advice on your workout the gym staff will be happy to offer some tips to ensure you get the most out of your workout.

Manchester Aquatics Centre is home to a 50m swimming pool which can be split into two pools and a diving pool. The pool is suitable for all swimming abilities and is host to a range of aqua classes throughout the week. If the pool is not for you then book onto one of the 50+ classes per week including Zumba, Yoga and Body Pump. Head to the health suite after your workout to relax your tired muscles and unwind in the sauna and steam room. These activities will incur additional costs and may require pre-booking.

Gym facilities were acceptable but sometimes there was a queue for specific equipment. Changing room facilities were of a poor standard and not very clean

Manchester Aquatics Centre says:

Thank you for your feedback. We have passed your comments on to the centre manager who will take all comments on board when trying to make improvements to the centre. We hope to welcome you back soon. Kind Regards, Better

Great facilities but so spread out and hard to navigate around. There were 2 gyms, and we didn't realise that until halfway through our workout. No one showed us round as they were doing tours for freshers week. Also very hard to redeem passes, had to call a manager to help. Unisex changing rooms??

It was a shame that I was only allowed to use the gym with my unlimited pass but the gym was good. Lots of nice free weights, racks and machines. The pool looked amazing.
