The fastest ways to burn calories

The fastest ways to burn calories

Most of us want to burn calories, lose fat and look great. And even better to do it in as little time as possible!

Learning some top tips will help you get past a weight loss plateau, and shedding extra weight will boost your health.

So here are the fastest ways to burn calories:

1.DO HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING

Whilst there’s no doubt that cardio is a wonder exercise, don’t forget that interval training is like the magic dust that amplifies the (already innumerable) benefits of cardio.

It’s simple to do (but we didn’t say easy): just exercise at a high intensity for 30 seconds to several minutes, switch to low-intensity or complete rest for 1-5 minutes, then repeat several times. This HIIT approach will ramp up your calorie burn, increase your aerobic capacity, and reduce workout boredom.

2.CARDIO PLUS WEIGHTS

Weights alone won’t burn loads of calories; but add in some cardio and your burn rate will soar.  Your metabolism thrives on muscle, and more muscle equals higher metabolism equals more calories burned. Home workouts with kettlebells and bodyweight exercises are great, or use gym machines to focus on specific body areas.

3.SPRINT, LIFT, SPRINT, LIFT

Tweak your workouts to burn fat and you could easily burn 300 calories post-workout with the after burn effect. All that lean muscle needs three times more energy than fat, so you’ll continue burning calories even when you’re sat watching Netflix.

4.SWITCH MUSCLE GROUPS

Work as many muscle groups as possible and you will burn crazy calories. The best workouts for this are circuits, which train the entire body. They also keep you continually working, unlike weight training, so your heartrate stays raised too, which burns even more calories.  Try these super circuits for super strength.

5.CHOOSE DIFFERENT WORKOUTS

You may wonder which exercise burns the most calories. The best approach however is to mix up your workouts to keep your body challenged and stop it adapting to old activities. An hour of cycling can burn up to 800 calories, weight training burns 130 calories per half hour session, and a few minutes running up and down stairs will burn 9 calories a minute. Try something new, keep your muscles guessing!

the one thing I really agree with here is the working as many body parts as possible in one workout, Circuits are definitely amazing for this - I really feel completely worked and definitely think it burns more calories.

I like the idea of magic dust - but I fear that the afterburn may fall slightly into that category. All the studies I've seen say that the afterburn may use 100 extra calories at best. One banana in and there it goes!
