Finding The Right Gym For You

Finding The Right Gym For You

Before you sell your soul to a long-term gym membership you want to be sure of what you’re buying into, so why not try out different gyms first? With our temporary gym passes you can check out a myriad of gyms without committing to a long-term contract. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you work up a sweat.

Vibe

What’s the first thing you see when you walk into a prospective gym? Is it a group of heavy lifters with veins bigger than your biceps, or a group of mums getting their Zumba on to Katy Perry? If you’re a heavy lifter maybe the former is the right atmosphere for you, but if you’re the latter you may prefer a gym with group classes and great taste in pop music. Each gym comes with its own unique benefits and ambiance, so be mindful of the vibe when you enter your next gym.

Location

Will you be willing to exercise after a day of work, even if your gym is a 15-minute drive from your house? Sustaining a pattern of exercise might mean choosing a gym that’s five minutes away rather than 15. Also take into consideration any foreseeable traffic you might encounter on your drive over.

Hours

When do you see yourself working out? Is it before or after work, early Saturday morning or late Sunday evening? Finding out the hours of a gym should be the first box you check off when searching for a gym that fits your needs. Most likely your workout schedule will settle into a pattern after a while.

Equipment

If you have an idea of what your workout routine will look like, scan the gym to make sure they have all the proper equipment. If you plan on working out during peak gym hours, be sure that the gym has enough equipment so that you’re not stuck in a cue.

Whether you sign up for the Lewes Leisure Centre or the Rapids Romsey gym, be sure to consider the aforementioned before inking a contract.

For me, location is the main thing. The only reason I go often is because it's only a 5 minute drive from where I live. The fact they do great classes is a bonus. I don't know what I'd do if they didn't.
