How to be a winner

How to be a winner

Unlocking your winning mindset is the key to being successful at what you do. Don't have a clue how to do this? Far from just ‘working harder’, you will need to open your mind about new approaches and attitudes to life.

The following tips will help you develop a winning mindset so you can achieve your potential:

FIND INSPIRATION

Feeling inspired to do your best is the blueprint for success. You will need to read, watch and listen to all the great inspiration in the world to build up this feeling. Autobiographies, inspiring podcasts and motivational quotes work well for lots of people.

A good role model can also do wonders for your inspiration. This could be anyone famous or just someone you know who provides you with the drive, commitment and passion to aspire towards your best.

BE PASSIONATE

Don’t wade through life in neutral; move up your emotional gears into unbridled passion and enthusiasm that will propel you forwards.

Of course, you will have days when everything sucks and you’ve lost your drive. But that’s when you need to stop looking for excuses and shift your attention determinedly back on your goals to regain the passion that’s crucial for a winning mindset.

KEEP PHYSICALLY FIT

Your mind and body are so attuned to each other they will feel their best when both are healthy. So maintaining a fit body is an important part of keeping your mind focused, alert and determined to win.

Stick to a regular exercise routine of both strength workouts and full body workouts that you enjoy to keep yourself in top notch condition. Your body will then be ready to handle the pressures and challenges that come with a successful life.

REMAIN POSITIVE

Remember to praise your progress and not perfection as you work towards your goals. Taking a moment to look at your current position helps reinforce how far you’ve come compared to where you were.

Winners are also excited by future challenges, which helps motivate them and open up new opportunities. So be the person who ignores criticism, remains inspired and steps up to tackle a challenge. In other words, a real winner!

I have to say I'm not one for the inspirational quote - but there are books that do the same. One or two really have changed my life, and not just regarding fitness.

I would say you could apply these tips to everyday life too, not just about being a winner. In fact they're good to apply to situations when you're not succeeding at something too, and accepting it doesn't matter.

Finding inspiration is definitely something that works for me, but you do need to find it regularly to keep the motivation up.

I would say that ticks all the boxes. You really need to keep physically and mentally on top of yourself to get the best from yourself.

As with everything it's all about mental attitude.
